When you were younger, did you ever go driving with your dad for the sake of pulling pranks and practicing your comedy stylings on random strangers on the street? No? Well, Mary Jane Murphy did! It seems she was destined for comedy!
In this episode we definitely go in all kinds of directions (hello, welcome to two people who like to riff), but we have a blast. Just some of the things we discuss:
Sneaking into the circus by pulling a scam with her dad
When coaches want you to pay thousands of dollars for their program to teach you "how they made their millions," but really they had a very favorable scenario
MJ's gorilla comedy
What it's like for her in the world of comedy
Expanding on her podcast idea
My daughter's old YouTube channel (ARE YOU WATCHING IT?! #insidejoke - listen to the episode to be on the inside)
Cold weather
Death
Oh, yeah, we cover all that and more. Mary Jane was truly a treat to have on and I hope you have as much fun listening as I did talking with her! And I hope that our conversation helps spark something in you or gives you permission in some way to take action on YOUR amazing dreams!

Big energy. Go, do, more go. Beachbody, the Grammys. Today's guest, Debra Pivko, is as social and upbeat as they come. She was living a busy life that was fun, but also had her feeling like she was always behind.
It wasn't until 6 years ago and her cancer diagnosis that she was forced to slow down. Although, after hearing this episode, you might wonder what her full-throttle looked like if THIS is slowing down! But either way, she was forced to care for herself in new ways that disrupted her usual way of life. In the process, she's been on a journey to create things that allow her to be as social and helpful as she can while still honoring her body.
A cheerleader for others, she's recently started a website to showcase women called Female Power Players. And her most recent idea that's lighting her up is that of...you guessed it...a podcast!
On this episode we dive into her routine, her vision for how she wants to show up, and how a podcast could be a perfect way to keep her self-care rhythms while also feeling social. It's an awesome episode if you need some encouragement and some ideas when it comes to honoring a season you may be in that you'd rather not be in.

LIfe in the 70s and 80s may now be looked back on by younger generations as cool and "vintage," but there were much deeper experiences for women growing up at that time. They felt the expectations of their grandmother's generation, urging them to go, do and be all the things that they couldn't - but what that often looked like was, at best, a corporate ladder (with glass ceiling) career.
Sitting here in the early 2020s, these women have raised kids, gone/going through perimenopause and are into menopause. And many of them (us? I'm on the cusp of X and Millennial) are asking, "If I'd had different tools, would I have made different choices?" right along with today's guest.
Heather Lambert is here to fire up the conversation around the women of generation X - creating space to talk about their experiences growing up, what they're facing now and normalizing starting over and starting something NEW at this point in their lives.
It's a fantastic conversation for gen x'ers, obviously, but also for the younger folk who may want to know that their future doesn't end in their 30s.

"Do it scared! Done is better than perfect! Take imperfect action!"
We see & hear these growth mindset go-for-it-now mantras seemingly everywhere we look. Do you ever want to yell back, "OKAY, BUT TELL ME HOW!!!"? It's all well & good to just tell people to "just do it," but that doesn't work for most of us.
The moment we go to "take imperfect action" all the fear comes up. What will people think? Will my friends judge me? What if I succeed and my family hates me? I can't. It's not good enough. It has to be better. If it's not perfect, why do it?
We keep ourselves in a stalemate, running ourselves into a downward spiral, adding to our own self-created stories of "I can't do it. I just don't know how. I'm never consistent."
But what if we could create our own container of support using nothing more than our own hearts & minds and a little help from the Universe? A mental space that would allow us to take that imperfect action and move us closer to our higher selves, the versions of us that are healthier, more fulfilled, giving back, full of love and joy - the us is that is becoming? You can.
In this episode I share the three steps I use that support me in taking imperfect action:
- (prologue) Having a knowing, being lit up, excited, ready for change
- Internal & external why
- A sense of being divinely supported
- Surrender & trust
Enjoy! You are made for more!!

Body Hacking: Build a Better You. If Michaela's podcast title alone doesn't make you want to tune in, then maybe her story of seemingly unending health issues followed by getting paralyzed on her couch while doing skin-to-skin with her newborn will.
That event, along with the others before it, began a long journey seeking help from anyone and everyone she thought could MABYE offer SOME kind of answer until, eventually, after being told it was all in her head, she was forced to take matters into her own hands.
She found her answer with Omega-3s, but not in a simple, "Just take some supplements," way. Ever since then, she's been helping family members (helped her mom survive colon cancer TWICE), friends and now thousands of strangers inside her Facebook group, which currently boasts over 5,000 members.
This episode is for anyone on a health journey, anyone who wants to help someone they love with their health, or anyone who has their own health journey miracle and wants to know how they can help others as well.
Prepare to have your mind blown. Enjoy.

"Laughter is medicine." Charlotte Edwards not only believes this whole-heartedly, but gets about as literal with that phrase as you can, bringing in whatever she can to her team of nurses in the NICU when things get heavy and intense. She's a believer in the power of people's stories, and that not only SHOULD we tell our stories and listen to those of others, but that we MUST. And that doing so increases our connection to our fellow humans and also serves to help us not feel so alone.
We talk about the power of the Internet and technology to help us share our stories, to hear and to be heard, and how important that is and how amazing it is that we can be connected to so many stories that are so similar to our own, when once we may have never come across anyone walking a similar path.
Like many of my guests, Charlotte is no stranger to chaos and trauma, but her "laughter is medicine" approach is one that will leave you with hope and lightness, and also permission to find the lighter moments during times when it can seem uncouth to have a smile on our faces.
Her goals for the next 6 months are to show up and take messy action and have that be okay, to stick to her intuition and to be able to say, "I actually did it!!" Check her out and root her on, and perhaps find some inspiration for your own story. :)

Do you wish you'd had adults around when you were little who truly SAW you and helped point you toward the things you were naturally interested in and encouraged you to pursue the things you were naturally good at? If so, you're not alone.
My guide/guest today is Ann Sensing, a sound healer + mentor. She and I dive into her story about how she found her calling even though the adults around her never modeled what it was like to live a truly ALIGNED life. She grew up knowing there was a spark for her around music and sound - it was the thing that lit her up, acted as her therapy and gave her a space to feel self-expressed.
We have all been shown before what to follow. Our soul buzzes and yells, "Follow this!" Sometimes we follow it, but often we don't, especially if we've never seen anyone else follow their buzz or if we don't have anyone in our lives guiding us. Ann and I talk about how to follow the signposts to our purpose, what that journey can look like, and how we can model it for our children.
Enjoy! Awesome episode, truly.

If there's anyone who seems destined to have a podcast, it's Nicole James, who used to be told by her ex-husband that he hated the sound of women's voices. And that's just one small piece of this woman's story.
In this episode you'll find someone with the will to create the life she's always dreamed of, no matter how long it took, or how much it didn't start out at all as she'd planned. Within her story you'll find permission to follow your own path, and be encouraged to continually show up for yourself despite all odds.
Nicole is on her path to becoming an incredible life coach, and she's ready to offer both her individual clients as well as her podcast listeners a heart of compassion and strength, one that knows what life's trials can hand you, and how to find your own sunshine through it all.

This SPARKLE SNACK is JUICY, y’all!! A friend on Instagram posted about how we are all masters of containing and judging our self-expression and WOW has this been rolling around in my brain. What a concise and blunt and accurate way to describe what we do to ourselves - and thus our happiness - day in and day out!!! Let’s discuss this and see if we can find our gateway earring to our next level of “S”elf-expression! (You gotta listen to hear what I’m talking about with the gateway earring. You’ll love it.)

It's the inaugural episode of the "So You Want to Start a Podcast" miniseries!
We kick this off with Sonja Thompkins, a brick-and-mortar-owner-turned-coach, who is ready to tackle her third attempt at a podcast! Zero shame here. Sometimes it takes a few stops and starts to really figure out how to create a way of working that honors how we work most effectively, and throws out all the "best" advice. And that's exactly what Sonja is doing.
She's got a kiddo in sports, a group coaching program and she's in perimenopause, so her time and her energy are limited. Just because we've got limited time and energy does not mean we turn away from things that been on our hearts. We certainly have the option to say, "Not right now," to them, but Sonja's showing another way - honoring our capacity while also honoring our voices and our callings.
This episode is awesome for those who want to start ANY kind of undertaking - a podcast, a business, a new offering, even a new hobby - but feel that they just can't devote the "right" amount of time and energy to it. We'll hear Sonja's plan for working with her own energetic limits, learn why there just "aren't enough Starbucks," and get inspired to take steps on whatever journey is calling us!
